Second Time Disabled Youth Forum ( community based discussion) supported by Htoo Foundation has completed successfully

The second time Disabled Youth Forum (community based discussion) supported by Htoo Foundation has been completed successfully on 20th May 2018 at Phaung Daw Oo Monastic School, which is located at Daw-na-bwar Quarter, Aungmyaytharsan Township in Mandalay.

At this Forum, responsible persons from Social Welfare Department, disables, and community members around Mandalay Division Area, students and teachers from Pyin Oo Lwin Blind School, responsible persons and volunteers from Htoo Foundation have participated.

The Forum was started at 1:00 p.m. and opening speech was given by Daw Jason, Principal of Mandalay Disabled Youth Training School, Social Welfare Department, followed by Kaung Htet Thar, the organiser’s introduction words and explaination on Principles of Disabled Youth, which are included in the Social Welfare Department. Then, there was an entertainment led by Ma Thazin Thiri Khit of Future Band Group.

In the forum, the topics discussed were started with constraints encountered by the disables, domestic harassments, from disables human rights to equal human rights, establishments and rehabilitations, sharing the experience of vulnerable youths by son of the Principal Daw Jason, Disabled Youth Training School, Social Welfare Department, Mandalay.

One of the vulnerable youth Ma Thazin Thiri Khit, U Ye Lin Maung of Equality Myanmar (Mandalay), U Than Myat Soe of Metta Campaign Youth Society and one Ko Zaw Win Aung have raised different issues between the vulnerable youths residing among the urban and rural areas. Another participant also raised on the difficulties encountered by the vulnerable youths and how to solve and overcome them etc.

The certificates of thanks and appreciation were awarded to the sponsors , who have supported for the success of this forum and U Kyaw Pe Aung, one of the sponsors, in return delivered words of thanks and the forum was completed successfully at 4:00 p.m.

As per ensus taken during 2014, in Myanmar there are about 23 lakhs disables, while only 15 % of them are able to work in various sectors. It shows that it is required to create job opportunities for them as much as possible in the coming future, and as Htoo Foundation, we are glad to have a chance to participate I such kind of providing necessary assistance to the disables.
