Press conference on planting trees by dropping seed balls with helicopter at In Lay Lake Area, Nyaungshwe Township by HTOO Foundation in collaboration with Forestry Department

Press conference on planting trees by dropping seed balls with helicopter on the bleak mountains of In Lay Lake Area in Nyaungshwe Township by HTOO Foundation in collaboration with Natural Resources and Environment Maintenance Ministry, Forestry Department had been done on 13th September 2019 afternoon at Yangon United Sports Complex located at Yangon United Football Club Compound in Hlaing Township.

At the press conference, U Thein Toe, Director of Forestry Department, Dr. Maung Mar, Agricultural Advisor of HTOO Group of Companies, Captain Ye Myint, Managing Director of Myanmar Aviation Services Co. Ltd., U Paw Myint Oo, Chief Executive Director of Htoo Foundation, responsible persons and invited journalists were attended.

At this conference, U Thein Toe, Director of Forestry Department, Dr. Maung Mar, Agricultural Advisor of HGC and Captain Ye Myint, Managing Director of Myanmar Aviation Services Co. Ltd. had explained in details about planting trees by dropping seed balls with helicopter and also responded to the questions raised by the attended audiences.

At the protected area of In Lay East and West reserved area of Nyaungshwe Township, Taunggyi Region there were no trees growing at all. At the bleak plots No.3, 4,5 and 7, the trees will be planted by Forestry Department by using man power and at the bleak plots 1, 2 and 6, which are located at the height of 5000 and 6000 feet above sea level, Htoo Foundation will be planting trees by dropping seed balls with helicopter.

The helicopter of Myanmar Aviation Services Co. Ltd., HTOO Group of Companies will depart from Mandalay on 13th September 2019 and will drop seed balls on 14th September 2019 and 15th September 2019 respectively at the selected areas near Loi Khawt Inn Village , Inn Ni Village and Htee Hlaing Village, which are at above 5000 feet sea level and difficult to access.

A total area of 2520 acres will be planted with a total of 15 hours flying times will be used. To enable grow the plants successfully, the Forestry Department will do the monitoring job on monthly basis as explained by U Thein Toe, Director of Forestry Department.

Although there were planting trees by dropping seeds with helicopter and/or aero-planes in early days, to prevent minimum wastage, Dr. Maung Mar, Agricultural Advisor of HTOO Group of Companies explained that applying the method of dropping seed balls is the very first time in Myanmar as per instructions of HTOO Group of Companies Chairman U Tay Za.

A total of 146,297 seed balls ( a seed mixed with clay and ferterlized soil) consisted of the following long term tree species:- thitt-air, cheery, sein pan pyar, sein pan ni, nyaung, aurishia, shar, sit, yinn mar, da hut, zee phyu, sware daw, ma gyee, yinn taik, thin win, kokko, ngu shwe, ngu sut, mare za li, baw sa kine, mna gyan shar, thit phyu and sware daw.
